I was getting back into the groove that day. I parked at the usual spot (UTSA Park and Ride). I was getting on the bus but forgot I had to wear a mask. I asked the operator if I could run to the truck to get a mask. He said that he had masks there so I took one. I was fumbling with the mask and ticket and finally decided to sit down with the mask and put it on so I wouldn't be fumbling. The operator wanted me to put it on right away.
I took the ninety three to the downtown centro plaza transit center. I stood there for about a minute or so and my bus came; the 76. It was going to kel-lac transit center. I took it there. Halfway or so into the ride there was a man with a lot of bags of luggage. I was sitting in the front curbside seats and I decided to move, as well as another lady who was sitting next to them too. We moved to the back.
I got back to the centro plaza and the next bus, the 93, was to be arriving at the same stop. I was just scouting at that point. There were black, whites, and latinos around that area. Older men were hanging out smoking their cigars.A little girl was doing cartwheels as her male authority figure watched and laughed. And a man in uniform was waiting for the same bus I was.
The 93 did not go downtown as I had expected. But instead went to the Crossroads Park & Ride. To my bewilderment, the bus driver took a long detour before getting to the park and ride. I was getting a little tired but I still wanted to make it to the library. My bus was there! The 552 going to North Star Mall TC. But as I said I was in need of refreshment. So I stopped on Blanco Rd and 410 at the QT convenience store where I bought a soda and some peanuts. I spent a little too much but that's ok. As I walked I ate and drank. When I was walking on the inside of 410 toward North Star Mall TC I saw a man in the distance. It was a homeless man who seem to be living on the sidewalk. He was shaking out his clothes or blanket. I felt a little unsafe going past him, as there was a bridge wall on one side and a railing on the other side of the sidewalk. There wasnt much room to get by and I, as well, didnt want to bother the man in his home.
So I walked down a ways through the shops and found side walk. I jay walked across the road and as i arrived at the bus station my bus was getting ready to load. So far so good. As we road the bus driver was talking to the other off duty bus staff. He was loud and booming and saying what was right. For instance, when he stopped close to the Club 12 Alcoholics Anonymous meeting center on Thames Dr he didnt not open the door until the man standing outside of it had a mask on. He prompted the man to do so. He would say a thing like, “Come on, we been doing this since March”
I made it to the library and it was practically empty. I read my favorite book on billy graham. There was a person there that walked by me and said excuse me. I told he was alright. And he mumbled something. When I was done reading my chapter I left. However, i was interested i the person (male) that had mumbled something. I did not talk to him, instead went across the street to catch the bus. Then another older gentleman walked across the street toward me saying goodbye to some lady in a car. I was feeling like i should walk across the street to catch the other bus. I believe it was the Holy Spirit telling me this. I did not listen, but I did see the person the mumbled to me walk that way.
I began to pray at my last stop getting on the 93. Follow God and you can avoid pitfalls. Praise God for teaching you and me. He is fine-tuning us.
